Q1. Who are we?

We are Typework Studio Branding and Design Agency, a creative branding, logo, graphic and web design agency headquartered in Buffalo, NY. We provide art direction for new brands which include graphic and print design services, corporate branding, web design and development, e-commerce solutions and product photography. We enjoy long term collaborative & creatively charged relationships with many successful and influential clients. We define our design work as an obsession with strong ideas, a belief in the power of great design and our dedication to the success of the brands with whom we work.

Q2. What does our design agency offer?

Our branding and design services include logo design, print and graphic design for brand identity development, web design and development and product photography. We use these design services in conjuction to build and strengthen the creative brand challenge presented to us.

Q3. How much will my logo / design project cost?

We realize that every client has different design needs and budgets. For this reason we quote every project individually. In beginning each brand, we make it a priority to fully understand the client’s needs prior to providing a design estimate. When we create the estimate, we cover all the details and costs to ensure that the end brand / design product will benefit the client thoroughly. From here on, the design estimate can be adjusted to suit the initial brand’s need, yet stay within budget.

When it comes to logo design, we offer several different logo packages to best work with our client’s budget. These range from a budget to a premium package. In this way we can start up solutions for small to medium to large companies to offer the best solution for the new brand, and also work with the clients budget.

Q4. How can I begin a project / brand with you?

The first step to begin a project with us is a simple email or phone call. You can call our branding and design studio Mondays – Friday, from 9-6pm Eastern time at (716) 320-0010. You can submit an email form about your new brand anytime when you submit a contact us form. This begins the conversation of your new brand, and we can send you our logo design pricing packages or discuss your new brand with you to get you a design estimate. To initiate any design work we require a 50% deposit, and at the completion of the project we collect the remainder of the invoice prior to the delivery of files.

Q5. How does the brand move forward once started?

In order to initiate any design work, we require a 50% down deposit. Once this is in place we supply our clients with a creative brief, consisting of 12-13 questions that really probe into who our client is. The questions within the brief target the client’s vision for the brand, the key message they want to communicate, who their competition is and more. From this creative brief we are able to really delve into the brand and come up with creative concepts for the logo/project.

Once the creative brief is completed and in our hands, we begin the creative work. The time to complete a project varies based on the project. We offer several different logo packages to best work with our clients’ budgets. For the budget package, the initial concepts usually take 2-3 weeks to design. Print projects vary as well, and can range from 2-3 business days to a business week to months depending on the project. A business card, for instance, may take several business days, while a brochure may take 1-2 business weeks and catalog design going into a month(s) time frame.

Web design varies as well depending on the amount of pages in the site and functionality. A simple website may take 3-4 business weeks, while e-commerce websites can take up to 2-3 months depending on products and functionality.

Q6. What payment types to you take?

We take cash, cheque, credit card, PayPal and Venmo. If our clients decide to pay via credit card or Paypal, we add an addition 3.5% finance charge to the cost of the deposit or final payment. If you have an additional form of payment you would like to pay with, please contact our office with your inquiry to see if it is accepted.

Q7. Who are your clients?

Our clients range from single individuals, or sole proprietorships, to small to medium to large sized businesses. We work with companies to institutions to non-for-profit organizations. We find that we work especially well with start up businesses, with no brand history and the design slate is, in essence, clean and open for interpretation. We do appreciate any design challenge and are always looking for new types of brand challenges not listed within our portfolio. Q8. Is all your design / branding work produced in your studio or hired out?

We value our work highly and all work is created within our design studio in Buffalo, NY. We do not, in any way, shape, or form, hire out our work. When our clients begin their new brand, we introduce ourselves and with whom they will be partnering with. We believe that honesty and openness are key components of a successful partnership and we can assure our clients that their work is 100% created within our office.

Q9. Do I own all rights to the design work you produce for my company?

The answer to this question is, YES! Upon completion of the project you will own all rights to the design work produced at our NY branding and design agency. We retain the right to showcase the work within our portfolio. In certain cases where we sign an NDA, we will not showcase the work on our portfolio at our client’s request.

Q10. How can I be sure you will do a good job on my project?

Every project we take on reflects our design, our knowledge, and our skill. To not work to excel at each project we take on is despicable, and we feel is stealing from not only our clients, but ourselves. We uphold ourselves to a standard of excellence to each project and will work to do our best, or else we will not take on the project.  There is no point to taking on a brand that we feel we cannot promote within our own portfolio and tell others about.

Q11. Will you take on any project / brand?

We do not take on every project brought to us. We value our work and what we do; if we feel that we can not deliver a strong design solution to the challenge we will let the client know that we can not participate in the project. This is why at the start of any project, prior to any price discussion, we require some sort of meeting, whether it be in person or via phone, in which we can discuss the project and see if we can work together well. We believe that the client-designer relationship is vital to delivering success in the design challenge.

Q12. What type of projects do you reject?

We will turn down any project that has any traces of an illegal, fraudulent or corrupt nature. We value our design agency and strive to maintain integrity within all aspects of our business and work.

Other types of projects we turn down are instances in which a client insists on dictating the overall design, in which we become a passive operative in the design process. Again, we value each and every project produced, and if the finished product is not something we can add to our design portfolio the venture is useless to both parties. This is just another justification for an interview prior to any price discussion.

Q13. Do you only offer your branding / design services locally?

No, we are headquartered in Buffalo, NY, yet service several clients nationally and internationally. Because technology has altered the barrier of time and space, we can offer design to virtually any place in the world. If training is required for an ecommerce or cms web design solution, we can handle this via remote desktop connection.

Q14. I have a RFP. What is the best way to submit it to you?

By all means, we welcome any RFP and can put together a design proposal for your company or institution. Please reach out to us at [email protected]with your RFP. We ask that the RFP be submitted via PDF or a .doc file.

Q15. Do you have a refund policy?

Every project we take on initiates with a 50% deposit. On a rare occasion, if the client feels that the design work does not reflect the brand, we will not collect the remaining 50%. Because work has been done, we will keep the original deposit. Our compensation is our time, something that we feel is valuable. If we do the work, we will not refund the work, as the client has entered into a contract with each project.
